1. Agreement to these terms
By accessing or using occassional.com (the “Site”), you agree to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
These Terms apply to visitors, readers, and anyone who uses Occassional guides, search, idea tools, weekend planner, checklist tools, contact forms, or other Site features.
2. What Occassional provides
Occassional publishes lifestyle guides and interactive planning tools about things worth doing once in a while — including food, travel, home projects, hobbies, gifts, and wellness ideas. The Site may also show ads and sponsored recommendations.
Occassional is provided for personal, informational, and planning purposes. Features may change, move, or be discontinued at any time.
3. No professional advice
Content on Occassional — including guides, checklists, planners, idea prompts, cost ranges, timing estimates, and practical tips — is general information only. It is not professional medical, mental-health, financial, legal, tax, dietary, construction, travel-safety, or other licensed advice.
You are responsible for your own decisions. Before trying an activity that involves food safety, travel, physical exertion, heat/cold exposure, DIY tools, chemicals, children, pets, alcohol, or other risks, use your judgment, follow product labels and local laws, and consult a qualified professional when appropriate.
If a guide mentions wellness, sleep, sauna, cold exposure, exercise, or similar topics, it is not a diagnosis, treatment plan, or guarantee of any health outcome. Stop any activity that feels unsafe for you.
4. Your responsibilities
When using the Site, you agree that you will:
- Use Occassional lawfully and for personal or non-abusive purposes
- Not attempt to break, overload, scrape at abusive scale, or interfere with the Site, its servers, analytics, or security
- Not use automated systems to copy the Site wholesale or harvest content in a way that harms the service or other visitors, except as allowed by ordinary search-engine indexing of public pages
- Not submit unlawful, harmful, harassing, deceptive, or infringing material through the contact form or any other input
- Not misrepresent your identity when contacting us in a way intended to commit fraud or abuse
- Not reverse engineer or misuse Site systems beyond ordinary browser use, except where such restriction is prohibited by law
We may rate-limit, block, or otherwise restrict access that appears abusive, automated, or harmful.
5. Accounts and browser-stored data
Occassional does not currently require user accounts or logins for core guides and tools. Some tools store saved ideas, guides, plans, or checklists in your browser’s local storage. That data stays on your device until you clear it. We are not responsible for loss of local browser data caused by clearing cookies/storage, device failure, browser changes, or similar events.
6. Intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, Occassional branding, site design, logos, original text, guide structure, and related materials are owned by Occassional / the Site operator or used under license. You may browse and print pages or checklists for your personal use.
You may not copy, republish, sell, or redistribute Occassional content as a competing product or dataset without prior written permission, except for brief quotations with attribution and link for non-commercial commentary, review, or personal notes, or as otherwise allowed by applicable law (including fair use/fair dealing where it applies).
7. Ads, sponsorships, and affiliate-style links
The Site may display advertising, sponsored placements, and recommendations for products, services, or related projects. Some links may be sponsored or commercially related. Ads help support Occassional.
Third-party destinations are not controlled by Occassional. We do not guarantee the accuracy, availability, pricing, safety, or practices of third-party sites, products, or services. Your dealings with advertisers and other third parties are solely between you and them.
If Google Ads / AdSense or similar networks are used, those services are subject to the advertiser’s and network’s terms and policies in addition to these Terms.
8. User submissions / contact
If you send feedback, tips, corrections, or other messages, you grant Occassional a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use that feedback to operate and improve the Site. You represent that you have the right to send the material and that it does not violate others’ rights.
We may decline, ignore, or delete submissions that appear abusive, spammy, unlawful, or irrelevant.
9. Accuracy and availability
We aim to keep guides and tools useful and current, but we do not warrant that every detail is complete, error-free, or suitable for every person, place, budget, or situation. Cost ranges, times, supplies, and steps are estimates and examples.
The Site may be unavailable, slow, or changed without notice due to maintenance, hosting issues, attacks, or other causes. We are not liable for downtime or lost local data.
10. External links
Occassional may link to third-party websites, maps, shops, tools, or resources. Links do not mean endorsement. Use external sites at your own risk and review their terms and privacy policies.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT, TOOLS, ADS, AND MATERIALS ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OCCASSIONAL DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, secure, or free of errors, viruses, or harmful components, or that results from using guides/tools will meet your expectations.
12. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OCCASSIONAL AND ITS OPERATORS, OWNERS, CONTRIBUTORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OPPORTUNITY, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SITE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SITE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US DIRECTLY FOR ACCESSING THE SITE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (IF ANY), OR (B) USD $50.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those places, our liability is limited to the fullest extent allowed by law.
13. Indemnity
To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Occassional and its operators from and against claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your misuse of the Site, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party rights.
14. Termination / suspension
We may suspend or terminate access to the Site, or remove/disable content or features, at any time if we believe it is needed for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or Site operations. Sections that by nature should survive (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnity) will survive termination.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, unless applicable law in your location requires otherwise. Courts located in California will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms or the Site, except where prohibited by law.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The revised Terms will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, except where applicable law requires a different process.
